12 Simple Self Care Moments For Every Mother - Blog Puriya

May 07, 2019

As a busy mom, finding time to practice self-care can seem daunting, it may even deliver a wave of guilt… Where’s the time to put my needs first with responsibilities and people relying on me? We get it, and it’s important for every mama to understand: you can only be on your A game when you ensure your needs are taken care of, too. Self-care isn’t selfish, we can’t give what we don’t have ourselves.

We’ve gathered a list of self-care ideas for you, so you can choose a moment of wellness that fits your lifestyle. Maybe it will inspire you, creating a flow of ideas to fulfill your unique self-care needs!

Go For a Walk or Run

Simple, easy to fit into your day and completely free, pop in your earbuds and play your favorite album, podcast or audiobook and let your mind focus on something other than your obligations at home.

Take a Deep Breath

And 1… 2… 3… release! Repeat as needed until you feel calm, cool and collected.

Indulge in the Power of Touch

The power of touch has a significant impact on our wellbeing and happiness, and unfortunately, we live in a touch-deprived society. Many of us don’t experience nurturing touch on a regular basis, although we’re showering our kiddos with it! Fill up your self-love tank by treating yourself to a spa treatment, whether it’s a massage, body treatment, facial or pedicure; therapists who work in these settings usually have a nurturing mindset to leave you feeling your best as you float out of the spa on cloud nine.

Declutter and Organize Something That’s Been Driving You Nuts

Your car, a drawer, a closet, the garage… We all have that one space in our home that’s driving us nuts and needs decluttering or organizing. Choose a space that’s easy to complete with the time you have available so you can feel satisfied with a completed project.

Schedule a Float Session

Also known as a sensory deprivation tank, it’s nowhere near as scary as it sounds. These rooms are filled with Epsom salt and water, allowing you to become buoyant and float in complete silence, easily slipping into a relaxing, meditative state.

Go To Your Favorite Workout Class

Whether you’re into a calming yoga class or high-intensity boot camp, plan a solo workout date or go with a girlfriend, and put it on your calendar to help keep yourself accountable.

Start Journaling or Blogging

Don’t over think it! Write what comes to mind and let your thoughts flow. Whether you decide to make it public or keep it private, it really doesn’t matter as long as you’re getting words on paper (or screen). The purpose is to give all your ideas, thoughts and dreams space, instead of bottling them inside.

Donate Your Time and Help Others

Random acts of kindness or planned acts of kindness, either way, both have a profound impact on our happiness.

Plant a Garden

Vegetables, herbs, flowers; anything that suits your fancy. Planting a garden helps ground us in nature while clearing our mind and recharging our sense of wellbeing.

Take a Long Bath

This is a personal favorite of ours! We love to combine essential oils, Epsom salt, and candles under low light with spa music playing in the background to rejuvenate our mind, body, and spirit.

Plan a Coffee Date with a Friend

Self-care doesn’t have to be a solo activity, for some of us, recharging with a girlfriend is exactly what we need! Sometimes having a conversation with someone other than our kids helps to remind us what it’s like to be our own individual person.

Hire a Sitter and Do Something You’ve Been Wanting To Do

Whether it’s a solo shopping date or a night out with your significant other or girlfriends, hire a babysitter and do something you’ve been wanting to do for a while. Make it about YOU or whoever you’re spending time with, allow yourself to free your mind about what’s going on back home. This is key to embracing self-care and genuinely taking time for yourself, you deserve it!
