Stay Moisturized with These 10 Skin Beauty Tips for Fall
1. Put Together a Skincare Routine
You may think that knowing your skin type is all you need for a year-round skin-care routine. However, skin type changes through the seasons. Those with oily skin may find that their skin feels normal; some with combination skin may find that autumn winds have made their skin even drier. Start re-evaluating your fall skin care products — you might need to change some to suit fall weather.
You should also follow a schedule that works best for you while keeping in mind the seasonal changes in your skin. You may need to reapply more product throughout the day or scale back even less.
2. Use Hydrating Masks
Having dry skin is the perfect excuse to use more facial masks. The cold weather is also sure to keep you indoors, so why not spend that extra time hydrating your skin? Buy or make your own hydrating masks to keep your skin smooth, soft and deeply nourished all throughout the fall and winter season.
3. Choose the Right Body Cleanser
Fall weather is cool and perfect for layering, but it is notorious for being very drying to the skin. Getting moisturized is a crucial part in preparing your skin, and using the right body cleanser serves as your first line of defense. A creamy body wash that is soap-free and hydrating is suitable for a fantastic fall skin care routine.
4. Moisturize Your Hands
Hands often become dry and cracked during fall. Your hands are also constantly in and out of water during the day, exposing them to more dryness. Invest in a good, moisturizing hand cream that you can take with you so you can reapply throughout the day after you wash your hands.
5. Hydrate Your Skin
To keep from having dry skin, it is important to hydrate your skin regularly. Apply lotion or cream right after taking a shower or bath, when your skin has just dried off. This seals in the moisture your skin has absorbed from the shower, and keeps it moisturized for the rest of the day.

6. Use an Oil-Based Scrub
Using oil-based scrubs for fall to winter may be appropriate, as it gives you all the benefits of exfoliating, but with the added bonus of hydration from oils. There are many choices for oil-based scrubs out there: there are the runny ones, and there are even scrubs that have a more solid texture. Be careful not to over-exfoliate though, as this may lead to over-sensitive skin that is even more prone to dryness and cracking.
7. You Still Need Sunscreen
If you thought you could pack away your sunscreen because summer is long gone, you’re mistaken. Don’t ditch sunscreen just because summer’s over. It is a daily essential, as the sun’s UV rays are so persistent they can penetrate past clouds, and can even reach you indoors. Use a minimum SPF 15 facial sunscreen, and reapply it throughout the day. Make sunscreen a daily habit, as you’re going to use it for winter; UV rays bounce off the snow!
8. Keep Your Lips Soft
Don’t forget about your lips when fall comes around. Dry lips lead to painful, chapped lips that will make it sheer torture to speak, laugh, and even open your mouth to eat. Exfoliate and moisturize your lips using a non-petroleum based lip balm. Remember to pack extra lip balm in your purse or pocket whenever you have to go out so you can re-apply throughout the day.
9. Have Cuticle Oil Handy
Dry cuticles are a sign that cold weather has come. Make sure your nails and cuticles are sufficiently hydrated by using some cuticle oil. It may quickly take care of the dry and cracked skin around your fingernails, keeping them soft and supple despite resting within gloves and hand warmers all day.
10. Don’t Neglect Your Feet
Just because you’re going to hide your feet in thick boots and closed shoes all autumn long, doesn’t mean you should neglect your feet. Continuous care for them ensures your feet are prim and healthy once it’s sandals season again. Use a foot scrub to exfoliate your feet regularly. You can use your choice of liquid foot scrub or just go to town with a pumice stone.
